GENOCIDE. HISTORICAL MEMORY. ADMINISTRATIVE AND LEGAL MEASURES TO PRESERVE HISTORICAL MEMORY AND COUNTER GENOCIDE
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The relevance of the topic of historical memory and the tragedy associated with genocide is undeniable. The article emphasizes the negative trend observed in recent years, with certain political and public organizations and bodies seeking to revise the results of World War II, downplay the role of the Soviet people in the victory over fascism, and subject existing historical facts about the victims of that war and the atrocities of the Nazis to arbitrary interpretations. They often openly falsify the events of that time. The further we move from World War II and the fewer witnesses to those crimes remain alive, the more powerful the manifestations of Nazism become, and the more active are the attempts of supporters of Nazi ideology to plant and nurture its seeds in the minds of our fellow citizens, including young people. The author cites the concept of genocide as enshrined internationally and in Russian legislation. An analysis of Russian legislation allowed us to identify legal and organizational forms for perpetuating the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people and measures aimed at preserving historical truth, as well as to reflect the system of measures for the state-patriotic education of youth.
