The article is devoted to the analysis of modern possibilities of using information technologies by an investigator during conducting an investigative experiment in the course of the investigation of traffic accidents. It is substantiated that the traditional methods of fixing the course and results of an investigative experiment, enshrined in Article 181 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, do not fully meet the needs of modern investigative practice, which requires an accurate and objective reconstruction of the circumstances of an accident. Based on the analysis of the regulatory framework, scientific publications, and judicial practice, the article examines the prospects for integrating technologies such as 3D scanning and photogrammetry, computer modeling software (PC-Crash, Virtual Crash), unmanned aerial vehicles, and data from GLONASS/GPS telematics systems into investigative experiments. The article concludes with suggestions for improving the regulatory framework for the digitalization of investigative activities.
