Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of crime in megacities, with a special focus on Moscow. The author examines the general trends of crime in megacities, emphasizing that megacities are complex social formations where various problems, including an increased level of crime, are particularly acute. The article presents data on the ranking of the world's most crime-ridden cities, including Russian megacities and the safest cities. The article describes the structure of crime in Moscow, including the prevalence of property crimes (theft and fraud), economic crimes, and drug trafficking. Special attention is given to crimes committed using information and telecommunication technologies. The author concludes that the Moscow metropolitan area is characterized by a gradual decrease in the number of crimes. This decrease is accompanied by transformations in the structure of crime.
