The article discusses the activities of Soviet militia officers in fighter battalions, sabotage groups and partisan units behind enemy lines in the initial period of the Great Patriotic War. Excerpts from the legislation regulating the participation of law enforcement soldiers in these formations are given. The work reflects examples of the participation of militia officers in the activities of the Moscow extermination motorized regiment special purpose UNKVD Moscow and Moscow region and the Special school of subversives. In conclusion, the author outlines the direction of further research to fill the existing gap in the data on the participation of militia officers in the activities of fighter battalions, sabo-tage groups and partisan units behind enemy lines during the entire period of the Great Patriotic War.
