The article deals with the topical problems of training of personnel of internal affairs bodies. On the basis of the analysis of the provisions of the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia from 02.02.2024 № 44 “On Approval of the Order of the organization of personnel training to fill positions in the internal affairs bodies of the Russian Federation” the existing approaches to the organization and evaluation of professional service, fire and physical training of employees of internal affairs bod-ies are considered. It is noted that the adopted system of assessment of personnel training of inter-nal affairs bodies on the scale “satisfactory - not satisfactory” actually distinguishes the minimum acceptable level of training of employees from the level that does not allow them to effectively perform their official duties. Argumentation of the expediency of searching for new solutions due to the need to overcome negative trends associated with the staffing of internal affairs bodies is given. The author's methodology of assessment of training of employees of internal affairs agencies is proposed, reflecting a differentiated approach to the requirements for different areas of service activities and categories of positions of employees of internal affairs agencies and allowing, based on the analysis of qualitative characteristics of the personnel composition of internal affairs agencies and departments, to adjust the organization and content of training to fill positions in the internal affairs agencies of the Russian Federation. The conclusion is substantiated in the conclusion that on the basis of the authors' proposed method of using information on the correlation between the levels of professional service training and the levels of firearms and physical training it is possible to better assess the compliance of each em-ployee with the requirements for the position held, as well as to form a personnel reserve
