The article examines the features of the operational-investigative characteristics of the use of security measures against participants in criminal proceedings and it’s differences from other types of characteristics. The author identifies and analyzes as system-forming elements: a person who exerts criminal influence and a participant in criminal proceedings, around which he builds his research. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of the operational-investigative characteristics of the application of security measures, as well as the patterns of profiles of key actors in the process of applying security measures. The methodological basis of the work was formed by private scientific methods: normative-dogmatic, comparative-doctrinal, systemic-structural and the method of typologization, used in combination with general scientific methods of analysis, synthesis and deduction. As a result of the research, the definition of the operational-search characteristics of the use of security measures was formulated, a practice-oriented typology of persons exerting unlawful influence was developed, and a direct relationship between the operational-search measures carried out and the security measures applied was established.
