Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article examines the main elements of extremism and terrorism, which pose a danger not only to political or religious processes, but also to the entire society as a whole. Particular attention is paid to highlighting the threat of terrorism to the national security of individual countries and the entire world community. Currently, the world community is taking many steps to combat extremism and terrorism, but, unfortunately, these phenomena have not yet been defeated. The authors examine the differ-ence between extremism and terrorism, focusing on the motives that push people to commit terrorist crimes, as well as the methods of committing these crimes. This may be a call to commit terrorist or extremist crimes, propaganda of extremist ideologies, recruitment of new members to extremist organizations, etc. It should be noted that extremism in most cases is transnational in nature. In the course of the study of the topic, the authors come to the conclusion that terrorism and extremism are currently the most dangerous social phenomena and consist of intimidation of the civilian population using radical and dangerous measures expressed in physical and psychological violence. In modern society, terrorism and extremism are closely linked with the economic, political, religious and social spheres. To identify the causes of extremism and terrorism, as well as to develop measures to counteract these negative social phenomena, additional research is necessary.
